Is it safe to go kayaking from Sombrero Beach on our own through the mangroves? Or is it possible to get lost?

The possibility of getting lost is always possible if you aren’t familiar with the area. My wife and I visited the beach and from the looks of it, it seemed fairly safe to kayak.
