Pakistan's army said on Tuesday that more than 50 people were killed in last week's military clashes with India which ended in a ceasefire agreed by the nuclear-armed neighbours, restoring peace to their border.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the need for “immediate de-escalation” as he spoke with leaders from both countries.

A ceasefire between India and Pakistan appeared to be holding on Sunday after four days of clashes that brought the two nuclear-armed nations close to a full-blown war.
