Air India directed to carry out Boeing 787 safety checks as families reunited with victims Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe on Thursday declared a State of Emergency and activated the Missouri National Guard in anticipation of protests across the state. An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, killing most of the 242 people on board. The government has now ordered heightened surveillance of all Boeing 787 aircraft operating in India.

The head of Air France-KLM voiced confidence in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner as he expressed condolences to Air India and those affected by the deadly crash of a London-bound passenger jet in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

The crash happened just weeks after the company cut a deal with the U.S. government to avoid taking criminal responsibility for a pair of deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019.

Viswashkumar Ramesh, 40, the sole survivor of Air India Flight 171, is among the ranks of those spared by fate.
