The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction said its Chillicothe facility was staffed to standards when one of its correction officers was fatally assaulted.

An investigation is underway into the death of an Ohio corrections officer. Officer Andrew Lansing was attacked by an inmate on Christmas morning at the Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, according to officials. The prison said Lansing died as a result of the attack.
