Amid an ongoing contract dispute, Washington’s star wide receiver remains popular among fans, teammates, coaches and even the owner.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that wide receiver Terry McLaurin told him directly about his request to be traded amid a contract dispute but the coach has not addressed the matter with the other players as the team continues to prepare for the season.

“Players today are more aware of contracts than they used to be,” Quinn told ESPN's Jonah Keim. “They recognize that’s the business part. For the team, we’re just rocking. For Terry, the trade request, that’s part of normal business that’s happening around the NFL. We understand it. This group is tight and they’re focused on what they have to do.”
