Police in Kerala arrested 44 men for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl over five years. The victim, a Dalit athlete, said 62 people abused her since she was 13. Four of the accused were minors. The case surfaced during a gender awareness program and has shocked the coastal tourist resort.

Authorities in southern India have detained almost 50 men suspected of repeatedly raping and sexually abusing a girl from the age of 13.

The unnamed woman, now 18, said around 60 men sexually abused her in her southern home state of Kerala beginning from when she was just 13.
