Gov. DeSantis dispatched a deputy to apprehend a fugitive illegal alien who fled to California after a fatal Florida Turnpike crash that killed three motorists.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that he sent Lt. Gov. Jay Collins to California to retrieve an illegal immigrant who allegedly killed three people after making an illegal U-turn on a Florida highway.

DeSantis was joined by attorney general James Uthmeier. DeSantis announced that he is sending Florida’s Lt. Governor Jay Collins to California Thursday, and Collins is going to take possession of Harjinder Singh and bring him to South Florida.

After the crash, federal investigators gave Harjinder Singh an English proficiency and road sign test — and he failed badly.

DeSantis has offered a series of novel defenses of his position, including blaming former President Barack Obama, who served from 2009 to 2017, for Florida’s post-2020 census map that his office drew up and compelled the Legislature to approve ahead of the 2022 elections.
