The former Morrison Hotel, made famous by The Doors and their 1970 album of the same name, was significantly damaged by a fire that erupted in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday (Dec. 26).

Flames ripped through the building that was once the historic Morrison Hotel in downtown Los Angeles Thursday, with several dozen people inside managing to escape before firefighters put out the blaze.

The historic former Morrison Hotel, which was featured on the cover of a 1970 Doors album, was destroyed by a fire.
