Though he is now back with the Houston Rockets, rookie guard Reed Sheppard clearly made his presence felt during a brief stint in the NBA G League. On Tuesday, the G League announced that Sheppard was named as its Player of the Week for games played on the first complete week of January 2025.

That is certainly proving true with Reed Sheppard. Just two years ago, Sheppard was seen as the local throw-in for a John Calipari recruiting class that was the best in the country. Cal had three of the top five recruits in the nation -- Justin Edwards,

The G League could serve as a valuable resource for Houston to keep the rookie fresh and ready to contribute when needed.
