The Trump administration formally requested a rescission of funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, seeking to halt federal funding to PBS and NPR.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington by PBS and a Minnesota public TV station, said President Trump’s executive order was unconstitutional.

The Trump administration said that it has sent to Congress its proposal to roll back $1.1 billion in funding allocated to public media stations, NPR and PBS, continuing the president’s effort to punish mainstream media.
