Sean Burke allowed one run in six innings Friday to help the Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers 4-1, snapping an 11-game skid in the series.
White Sox starter Sean Burke gave a blunt assessment of his command after walking five batters and giving up five earned runs against the Chicago Cubs on May 17. "It was awful. It was terrible," Burke said last weekend at Wrigley Field.
Vaughn was batting only .189, while Elko had only five hits in his first 32 plate appearances as a major-leaguer. The Sox won their first game without the two — a 4-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday night at Rate Field.
