A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through late this evening as thunderstorms move across south-central and southeast Lower Michigan.

Steady rain is falling in the northern Indianapolis metro area at 5:53 p.m., with thunder and lightning accompanying the precipitation. National Weather Service radar shows a string of heavy storms approaching the metro area from the southwest,

The storms, which were expected to begin late Monday afternoon into Monday night, could produce heavy winds with gusts up to 60 mph and flash flooding in some areas, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly. There is a small risk the storms could be powerful enough to produce a tornado, the service said.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has expanded a Level 3 out of 5 (or enhanced) risk for severe weather for most of north and part of central Alabama tonight (areas in orange in the map at the top of this post). A large part of south, central and east Alabama will also have a Level 3 risk on Monday.

The NWS Fort Worth TX issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:40 p.m. on Sunday in effect until 4:45 p.m. for Tarrant County.

ON YOUR SIDE had a crew at the gas station, located off of West Main Street near US-131, where they said winds were gusting up to 80 mph.
