Just days after President Donald Trump pardoned former Culpeper Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his co-defendant Rick Rahim has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

President Donald Trump said Monday he was pardoning a former sheriff in Culpeper County, Virginia, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison on federal bribery and fraud charges. Scott Jenkins was sheriff for 12 years before voters rejected him following his 2023 indictment.

Carnival, which has been held annually for more than 30 years, was abruptly cancelled this year three days into the festivities due to “unanticipated city staffing gaps,” the city manager said. The city signed a service agreement with National Event Management on May 14 to run the carnival,
