Fans of Shrek have been eagerly awaiting the fifth movie featuring the lovable ogre, his Princess Fiona, and their pals Donkey and Puss In Boots. Despite a 15-year gap since the last Shrek hit, it's been confirmed that the release date has been delayed again - now heading for a 2027 debut.

Shrek fans are going to be waiting a little longer for the next installment in the beloved DreamWorks Animation franchise.

DreamWorks and Universal refrained from sharing the reason behind their decision to push Shrek 5 to its new June 2027 release date. The change also comes with a new date for an Untitled Illumination Event Film, which is moving up from Shrek 5’s late June spot to April 16, 2027.
