Varun Dhawan, who is all set for the release of Kalees-directed Baby John, got best wishes from the OG star of Theri, Thalapathy Vijay. Here is how the actor responded.

With the release of ’Baby John’ on the silver screen, Thalapathy Viajy’s fans are anxious to know how they can connect with ’Theri’ and what would be the similarities between the two movies.

Ahead of its release, Vijay, who recently starred in Leo, extended his well wishes to Varun Dhawan, Atlee and Baby John team.

Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Sureshs action thriller Baby John hits theatres on December 25. Directed by Kalees and presented by Atlee, the film is a remake of Thalapathy Vijays Tamil hit Theri. The film focuses on womens safety and has intense action sequences choreographed by international action directors.

The Varun Dhawan-starrer Baby John was supposed to be a Christmas treat for all his fans, and the film is trying to hold steady at the box office despite tough competition from Allu Arjun’s mega Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Baby John featuring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi and more, was released on Christmas Day. While the film presented by Atlee was mounted as a massy holiday entertainer, the box office reports are rather lukewarm.

Despite getting the push from being a Christmas holiday release, Varun Dhawan’s Baby John had a decent opening day collection at the box office. The Kalees directorial's performance was mostly hit by the continued dominance of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 and the clash with Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King.

Varun Dhawan's film 'Baby John' had a lukewarm opening on Christmas Day with Rs 12.5 crore. 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' earned Rs 19.75 crore on its 21st day. The Kannada film 'Max' earned Rs 10 crore on its first day and became the highest opening for a Kannada film in 2024.
