The Detroit Tigers have acquired starting pitcher Chris Paddack from the Minnesota Twins in a three-player trade.
Fairbanks isn’t quite the same pitcher he was in 2023, when he struck out 68 in 45 innings. His strikeout rate has dropped, but he still keeps the ball on the ground and limits barrels as well as anyone. The Rays hold a team option for 2026, so they won’t feel pressured to deal him unless the return is strong.
The Tigers have acquired right-hander Chris Paddack from the Twins, reports The Athletic. Paddack is one of several rental Twins players expected to move before the deadline, with outfielder Harrison Bader and lefty Danny Coulombe the most notable.

"When a team is going through adversity, you're going to see what the team is made of," Tarik Skubal said after the Detroit Tigers' 12th loss in 13 games.
The Tigers need their ace now more than ever. As the losses pile up and the mistakes mount, so does the angst, and even a hint of panic from fans. Hinch’s job is to steady the turbulence, because it’s clear the players are feeling the pressure.
