The Sarasota County School District said District 5 representative Tim Enos had announced his resignation Aug. 13.

He is expected to take a job as the school district's police chief, a post he previously held for three years.

Gov. Ron DeSantis endorsed Sarasota County School Board candidates Bridget Ziegler and Tim Enos Monday as part of an effort to steer Florida's education system in a more conservative direction.

Board member Tim Enos said it's up to Bridget Ziegler to decide whether to quit. Only Florida's governor can remove a school board member, and only under certain conditions, such as a criminal charge.
