Severe thunderstorm warnings were also in effect for northern Newton and Jasper counties in Indiana, and southeast Will and eastern Kankakee counties in Illinois, until 3:15 p.m.

The Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for dozens of Illinois counties such as Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, La Salle and Will. Indiana counties that are under the watch include Newton, Benton, Warren and Tippecanoe, among others.

Indianapolis and Central Indiana could be in for severe weather Sunday afternoon, with thunderstorms, hail and damaging winds possible.

The next round of severe weather begins Tuesday night in the Plains and potentially peaks with an outbreak Wednesday in the Midwest and South that could pack significant tornadoes, widespread damaging winds and large hail.
