Kelce, who went to Cleveland Heights High School and attended the University of Cincinnati, made an emotional plea to try to play for his hometown squad.
"I cried in Chud's office," Kelce recalled, "and said, 'I will f—ing die for this city!' I literally was in tears. I said, 'I'm sorry I'm getting emotional. I grew up down the street. I would f—ing do anything to play for the Cleveland Browns.' He looked at me like I was insane. I don't think he'd ever had somebody just pour out their emotions."
In a recent feature story from GQ's Sean Manning, Kelce recalled an emotional pre-draft meeting in 2013 with now-former Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski. Kelce was determined to convince the Browns to take him in the draft, and it got to the point where Kelce was crying in the meeting.
