UC regents have named University of Texas Chancellor James B. Milliken as the next president of the University of California.

Milliken, who has served as the UT System’s chancellor since 2018, will be succeeded by John Zerwas as acting chancellor. Zerwas is a physician who serves as the system’s executive vice chancellor for health affairs and is a former seven-term state representative, UT System board Chairman Kevin Eltife announced Friday.

On Friday, May 2, the UC Board of Regents announced that it approved the appointment of James Milliken, current chancellor of the University of Texas system, to be the new president of the University of California system.
