The Los Angeles Fire Department has fully contained the Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills, city officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched to two new blazes that erupted Wednesday night — a fast-growing brush fire that prompted chaotic evacuations near the Hollywood Hills and a structure fire in Studio City.

A central part of the city was under threat as a new fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills. Firefighters were already struggling to fight the worst blaze in Los Angeles history, and more than 100,000 people were under mandatory evacuation orders.

Fire officials say the flames consumed about 43 acres of land before their aggressive attack stopped forward progress.

Los Angeles firefighters said no homes burned from the Sunset fire, which occurred near Runyon Canyon and sparked a momentary evacuation order for Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills.

The Sunset Fire is the latest blaze to ravage Los Angeles. The fire, which began near Runyon Canyon on top of the Hollywood Hills, has burnt more than 60 acres of land. A mandatory evacuation order is in effect.
