Jeff Torborg, successor to Frank Robinson as Indians manager, dies at 83
Torborg replaced Indians manager Frank Robinson on June 19, 1977. The Indians made history by hiring Robinson before the 1975 season, but by 1977 the Indians were struggling, and the front office of Gabe Paul and Phil Seghi decided a change was in order.
On Sunday, the team announced that former manager Jeff Torborg passed away at the age of 83. Torborg managed Cleveland for parts of three seasons from 1977 through 1979.
