Meta is shifting how it plans to ensure widespread access to superintelligence, a suggestion that the company’s most advanced AI may remain closed so that Meta can stay in the driver’s seat.

Zuckerberg pointed to improvements to the company’s advertising recommendation system, as well as the suggestions in the feed shown to users. The latter changes had boosted time spent on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s photo app, by 5 per cent and 6 per cent respectively this quarter, Zuckerberg said.

Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg posted a letter yesterday focused mostly on the potential for so-called “personal superintelligence.” He said that while AI will inevitably cause societal change akin to the agricultural revolution, allowing for discoveries that “aren’t imaginable today,” the real frontier will be at an individual level.
