Secret Service shoots man in 'armed confrontation' overnight near White House, agency says
The U.S. Secret Service shot a man close to the White House in Washington, D.C. overnight on Sunday in an “armed confrontation," the agency said. The agency said local police had reported that a “suicidal individual” was potentially traveling to the D.C. area from Indiana.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service said the Elon Musk-led cost-cutting initiative had caused some confusion.
