NASA’s Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have returned to Earth from a weeklong mission at the International Space Station that turned into an unexpectedly extended stay.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams returned safely to Earth on Tuesday after spending over nine months in space due to a failed Boeing test flight. Their SpaceX capsule splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico near Tallahassee,

NASA removed two astronauts from its Crew-9 mission to allow for Williams and Wilmore to join the cohort, and return onboard the SpaceX Dragon − which carries four people at a time. The altered Crew-9 − only Hague and Gorbunov − launched aboard the SpaceX Dragon Freedom in late September.
