Putin call comes after the U.S. said it would halt some weapons shipments to Ukraine, which continues to fight off invading Russian forces.

The U.S. said a day prior that it would pause the delivery of some weapons to Ukraine as the Pentagon conducts a review of its munition stockpiles.

An emboldened Russia has ramped up military offensives on two fronts in Ukraine, scattering Kyiv’s precious reserve troops and threatening to expand the fighting to a new Ukrainian region as each side seeks an advantage before the fighting season wanes in the autumn.
