Swedish style and electric luxury on a budget is the Volvo EX30 ’s sales pitch — and while it’s not yet on sale here in the U.S., Volvo is already adding a Cross Country model to the lineup to give it a bit more off-road panache.

Along with the single-motor EX30, the rugged-looking EX30 Cross Country is due before the end of the 2025 calendar year.

True to the classic recipe, Volvo has added flared wheel arch extensions and skid plates front and back, while also raising the ride height by 0.7 inches. The CC variants will also wear unique 18-inch wheels, with optional all-terrain tires.

Volvo has debuted a new trim for its electric EX30 with some "rugged ingredients" that make the SUV more compatible with off-road terrain.

Volvo has been producing Cross Country versions of its cars since 1997. Back then, for their first XC car, they lifted the V70 wagon to give it about an inch more ground clearance—for a whopping six inches of free air underneath.

Inside, the EX30 Cross Country looks identical to its asphalt-only counterpart. A vertically oriented 12.3-inch infotainment display also contains the driver information gauges and runs Volvo’s Google-based interface. You can also use Apple CarPlay, and instead of speakers in the doors, there is a single soundbar spanning across the dashboard.
