Two people were injured in a stabbing incident allegedly targeting "Jewish members of the public" in London, after which at least one suspect was arrested, a charity group and local leaders said on Wednesday.

London's mayor says police will increase patrols after an "appalling attack on two Jewish Londoners," amid a "series of shocking antisemitic attacks" in the city.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Wednesday (April 29) the stabbing of two Jewish people in north London on Wednesday was "deeply concerning". Police said that a man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were stabbed in an area of north London with a large Jewish population.

The 45-year-old suspect has a history of serious violence and mental health issues, police say. They also say he attempted to stab officers while being arrested.
