Actors from the Telugu film industry, including producer Allu Aravind, the father of Allu Arjun, met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday amid controversy surrounding Allu Arjun’s arrest in connection with a stampede at a Hyderabad theatre during a screening of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule.

CM Reddy has criticised celebrities for their actions following the incident, and the government has announced it will not permit benefit shows or ticket price hikes.

The meeting took place after Telangana CM Revanth Reddy recently took digs at celebrities and the government also refused permission to increase ticket rates amid a row over Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2.

The entire controversy stems from a stampede at a theatre in Hyderabad during screening of Pushpa 2 which was attended by the actor.

In the meeting, CM Reddy asserted that celebrities must control their fans and the industry must be responsible. The meeting was held at Telangana State Police Command and Control Centre at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.

Netizens made a strong allegation on social media that the Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy would have intervened in the case and ordered Allu Arjun's arrest after the Pushpa actor took a long while to mention Reddy's name at the film's success press meet, earlier this month.

Representatives from the Telugu film industry including, Allu Aravind, Venkatesh Daggubati, Varun Tej and others will meet Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today. This comes after the Chief Minister's dig at the industry in Allu Arjun stampede case.

Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later released on bail after furnishing a Rs 50,000 bond, details below.
