U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated conservative media critic and pro-Israel commentator Leo Brent Bozell III as ambassador to South Africa.

According to the congressional website, Bozell’s nomination was received by the Senate Foreign Relations committee on Monday. Trump had previously picked Bozell to be head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, but that nomination was withdrawn.

L. Brent Bozell III, who must be confirmed by the Senate, would be stepping into the role at a time when relations between South Africa and the United States are at a low point.
