The French official who floated the idea of taking back the Statue of Liberty responded White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt calling him out.

However, French MEP Raphaël Glucksmann, who belongs to the Socialists and Democrats Group, believes the values that “Lady Liberty” symbolizes no longer align with the United States of today. The French politician struck a nerve by suggesting the U.S. send back the beloved statue due to its association with “tyrants.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear Monday the landmark is staying right where it is, Mediaite reported. Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Leavitt if the Statue of Liberty was France bound after French MEP Raphaël Glucksmann demanded its return Sunday.
