West Michigan was filled with chants, signs and music on Saturday as thousands gathered to take part in a nationwide “No Kings” protest.
Protests organized by the "No Kings" Movement are scheduled to take place Saturday, June 14th across the U.S., including at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids.
Grand Rapids will be hosting a “No Kings Day” demonstration with a “Day of Defiance” protest at Ah-Nab-Awen Park starting at 10 a.m. and a “Democracy Over Dictatorship” rally starting at 12p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle,
Demonstrators plan to gather in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings” movement. The Grand Rapids Police Department said it's prepared for the large crowds and plans to keep both demonstrators and the public safe.
Rallies are expected throughout metro Detroit and dozens of other cities in the state from Midland to Muskegon and Milan to Marquette.
Rain is expected June 13-15, so Father's Day plans may have to be indoors. No Kings day events also could be impacted statewide.
The development will include affordable housing units, workspaces, retail spaces and a rentable performing arts venue for events.
