North Carolina coach Hubert Davis revealed significant changes are likely coming to his program as part of a philosophical pivot on staff construction. Most notably, Davis said the Tar Heels will hire a general manager.

The North Carolina basketball program has not had an ideal season, and head coach Hubert Davis knows that things need to drastically change.

Davis also receives an annual expense allowance of $50,000 to be used for entertainment and “other appropriate purposes to advance the program,” $500,000 annually as part of North Carolina’s multimedia rights agreement with Learfield Communications and $250,000 per year from the school’s deal with Nike.

Hubert Davis is in his fourth season as the head coach of the North Carolina basketball team, and something isn’t working. Davis took the Tar Heels all the way to the national title game in year one despite an underwhelming regular season.

Davis, on his weekly radio show, stresses need for additional support staff to help him concentrate more on his primary job: coaching the team.
