Israeli airstrikes have hit Yemen’s capital, days after the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels fired what the Israeli military described as the first cluster bomb they've launched since 2023.

The Israeli strikes hit a facility owned by Yemen’s main oil company along with a power plant and a military site in an area where the presidential palace is located, according to the Houthis and Israel's military.

The official added that such munitions are more difficult to intercept and “represent additional technology provided to the Houthis by Iran”.
