Defense firm L3Harris Technologies is working with air taxi maker Joby Aviation to develop a vertical take-off and landing aircraft for defense applications, the companies said on Friday.

U.S.-based companies Joby Aviation and L3Harris Technologies have announced a new strategic partnership to develop a hybrid-electric eVTOL aircraft focused on military applications.

Joby's years of R&D with the DoD may be paying off. The company has signed an agreement with defense contractor L3Harris to develop a gas-turbine hybrid VTOL that can fly autonomously — for defense applications.
