By bne intellinews Brazil's former right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro will stand trial for allegedly attempting to stage a coup against his successor Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the country's Supreme Court ruled unanimously on March 26.

Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Thursday his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro should "prove his innocence" over allegations he attempted to stage a coup after he lost the 2022 election.

Brazil's Supreme Court, in a landmark ruling, decided there is sufficient evidence to proceed with former President Jair Bolsonaro's trial for allegedly trying to overthrow the result of the 2022 presidential election.
