Gov. Kathy Hochul has called for the termination of 14 employees at Marcy Correctional Facility after footage was unearthed that preceded the death of inmate Robert Brooks.

Loved ones of an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility who died after what the NYS AG described as a “use-of-force” incident, have now broken their silence after watching video evidence of the incident.

New York prison officers apparently were unaware their bodycams were recording when Robert L. Brooks was bludgeoned earlier this month. He later died.

Governor Kathy Hochul has ordered the state Department of Corrections to fire 14 individuals involved in the incident, including corrections officers, sergeants and one nurse. Representatives for the New York State Corrections Officers and Police Benevolent Association said some members of their executive board have viewed the existing security footage of the incident.
