The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down in Cass and Crow Wing counties during severe storms that swept across the state on Monday.

Dye says there were funnel clouds and rotating wall clouds in Carver and McCleod counties, but no tornadoes touched down. Three-and-a-quarter-inch hail fell near Chanhassen, two-inch hail was reported near Mankato, and Waconia received half-dollar sized hail.

Severe thunderstorms resulted in at least two confirmed tornados in Minnesota on Monday, with huge hail and torrential rain also causing major problems. The National Weather Service reports that a tornado touched down between Nicollet and North Mankato in the south of the state, and there was another confirmed tornado in the Brainerd Lakes area.
