The proposed “Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program Fund” shows how hardline immigration policies at the federal level have influenced policy proposals in states and localities.

A Mississippi lawmaker has introduced legislation which if passed would set up a bounty hunting program targeting undocumented migrants. Republican State Rep. Justin Keen from DeSoto County proposed the bill that would create the “Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program” which is aimed at “accelerating deportation efforts in line with the Trump Administration’s immigration priorities.
