Turkey has decided to allow parliament's pro-Kurdish DEM Party to hold face-to-face talks with militant leader Abdullah Ocalan on his island prison, the party said on Friday, setting up the first such visit in nearly a decade.

Turkey has approved a request by the pro-Kurdish DEM party to visit jailed PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan, who is serving life in solitary confinement, the justice minister and a party spokesman said Friday. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc confirmed the move in remarks to TRGT news channel.

Turkey has granted permission for a delegation from the pro-Kurdish DEM Party to visit imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali Island, the Sabah newspaper reported Thursday. The visit, expected to take place on Thursday or Friday, would be the first of its kind in nearly a decade.
