EST the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning valid from 1 p.m. EST until Thursday 7 a.m. EST for Huron, Sanilac, St. Clair and Macomb counties.

THURSDAY Steady snow will stop around daybreak with breezy-lake effect snow showers building in by mid-morning. Temperatures will be in the 20s with wind chills in the teens and winds gusting to 30 mph in the afternoon. An additional 1-2″ of new snow possible.

TIMING: Snow begins 1-3 a.m. across Maine Thursday morning. It will fall steadily through the morning commute with slick travel expected. A changeover to sleet or even freezing drizzle is likely by mid-morning, and coastal areas will likely see a brief period of plain rain.
