Police say a gunman opened fire in a Target parking lot Monday in Austin, Texas, killing two adults and a child.

In 2016, APD misidentified another murdered transgender woman, Monica Loera. In that case, as with Rosa’s murder, it fell to her friends and family to tell the media and APD otherwise. For the friends and family of a victim, this is an additional burden to deal with while grieving a loved one.
