Seven inmates from Texas are among 37 people on death row who had their sentences commuted by President Joe Biden Monday morning, one month before Donald Trump returns to the White House vowing to restart federal executions.

In total, Biden commuted 37 out of 40 death sentences to life without the possibility of parole. The group Human Rights Dallas said the president should grant clemency to all 40.
