Late last night, California Democrats released proposed maps that would likely flip five Republican-held seats, giving Democrats 48 of the state’s 52 districts, up from 43. It's a direct counter to Republican gains in Texas.

California Democrats on Friday released their redistricting proposal, aiming to produce up to five additional Democratic seats in the US House in response to Texas Republicans’ mid-decade redrawing of lines at the behest of President Donald Trump.

The plan would help Democrats flip five seats, offsetting the gains Republicans hope to make by redrawing maps in Texas.
