Insert Line Break in Excel To move to a new line in an Excel cell, simply type text in the cell as normal and then press enter while holding down the alt key.

You can also insert a manual line break when you have text that won't fit in the width of a cell. The line break forces your text to display on multiple lines within the cell.

Place the cell pointer to highlight Row 1 to the right of the column where you would want to place the page break. Go to the Excel menu and then choose the Insert Page Break option.
