Egypt is not on the list of countries targeted under Trump's order. The proclamation signed by Trump also partially restricts travel to the US by nationals from seven other countries: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.

Trump framed the new restrictions, which primarily target African and Asian countries, as necessary to fortify national security and combat terrorism.
