Indonesia's parliament on Tuesday passed a bill to revise the country's mining law, aimed at boosting development of domestic mineral processing industries and regulating mining access for small businesses and religious groups.

The amendment aims to help small companies access mining and ensure ore supply security to develop Indonesia's domestic metals sector.

Indonesia will allow small businesses to manage mines in the commodities-rich country for the first time and broaden access for religious groups, the latest populist policy to emerge under President Prabowo Subianto in his first months of rule.
