A Georgia lottery player was one number shy of a massive Powerball jackpot — but still walked away a winner. Someone won $50,000 after matching four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Jan. 6, narrowly missing a grand prize worth $220 million, according to the Georgia Lottery.

A Publix store in Florida sold a Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million. The ticket was drawn on New Year's Eve. The winning numbers were 13, 22, 27, 29, 35 and megaball 1.

Two lucky lottery players won $1 million prizes in Idaho, lottery officials said. The players bought tickets for the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle’s Dec. 30 drawing, Idaho Lottery said in a Dec. 31 news release. The tickets were sold in Ada and Cassia Counties, lottery officials said. The winning numbers are 063647 and 116293.

The players bought Carolina Cash 5 game tickets that matched all the numbers picked in the drawings on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, meaning each one was worth six figures, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on its website and in an email to McClatchy News.

A lucky lottery player in New York state recently scored $50,000 with a third-prize Powerball ticket. The New York Lottery announced the winning ticket for the Jan. 1 drawing matched four white balls and the red Powerball. It was sold at Myrtle Convenience Deli, located at 6815 Myrtle Ave., in Ridgewood, New York.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain 1 in 292.2 million. Players are encouraged to check their tickets on the Georgia Lottery website or the official Powerball app.
