Responding Officers located a male victim in the yard of a residence located near the intersection of South Hopkins Street and Ambassador W. LeMelle Drive. The victim was transported by Ambulance to a Lafayette hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The New Iberia Police Department began investigating a shooting in the 700 block of South Hopkins Street on Saturday, January 18, just before 3 a.m. Responding

A shooting in New Iberia left one in critical condition and caused a six-hour standoff between police and suspected shooter.

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, at around 12:00 p.m. the New Iberia Police Department began investigating a shots fired incident in the area of Lee Street and Park Avenue. The shots were initially heard by an Officer patrolling in the immediate area who was on scene within seconds.
