PUBG: Battlegrounds will add non-player characters powered by NVIDIA ACE generative AI. These PUBG Allies are being dubbed Co-Playable Characters, and they can have real-time conversations with a player about what's happening in a match.

As reported by Business Wire, developer Krafton and Nvidia unveiled a new application of AI technology called Co-Playable Character during CES 2025. By using a local AI powered by a small language model, the companies claim to be able to create NPCs that can interact with users like chatbots and imitate the decision-making of a human.

But at CES 2025, the company is taking the ACE characters a step further by showing how they can be “autonomous game characters” — including, sometime this year, a teammate to help you get a chicken dinner in PUBG.

CES 2025 is officially underway, and one of the big gaming announcements so far was a partnership between Nvidia and Krafton for AI-powered teammates who can help you in battle in PUBG.
